Information for Visitors:

Visiting

This page resumes the informations you want to know on the Types of cooperation we are used to, the Fees we charge, the Facilities available to our visitors and the person to contact for Permits and shipments of Biocontrol Material.

Types of Cooperation:

Cooperative activities range from long-term projects with TDY researchers from ARS and other stateside laboratories and universities and from other countries to brief research visits. Although priority is given to scientists cooperating on lab targets and USDA supported projects, our interest is to host everyone we can. Depending on prior commitments and resources, the laboratory also is pleased to be of assistance to scientists working in biological control and related areas who are passing through the area and need assistance. ARS has an established procedure for initiating cooperative research projects and for requesting collection and shipment of natural enemies from its overseas laboratories. Further information in this regard should be requested from Dr. Kevin J. Hackett.

Fees:

The laboratory does not charge "bench " fees. Budgets for long-term cooperative work are established in advance of the work.

Facilities:

The laboratory maintains a library of specialized books and reprints, extensive map collections, insect and herbarium collections, field plots, greenhouses, and quarantine facilities. Please communicate with us in advance if you will need quarantine space. Visitors should communicate in advance about their needs for space, supplies, and equipment. In general, we cannot use laboratory funds to purchase supplies for visitors. The cheapest way to ship material here from the USA is by APO.

Address official packages to :

Director, EBCL
PSC 116

These shipments usually are not subject to customs inspection and fees. Depending on the amount of supplies needed, consider mailing one or more packages and hand-carrying the most urgent supplies.
